It is getting closer to the liquidation of the island in the pond
There is an island in the pond. But it is no longer in the papers. The inhabitants of Lubartów are beginning to realize that the start of renovation works in the park means farewell to the place that has grown into our landscape.
We have not met any person who has negative associations with it. On the contrary, everyone has some good memories. Why does the developer want to liquidate it?
Unfortunately for the island, it obscures the view of the palace from the east. At least that's what we read in the hydrotechnical part of the detailed design. And our eye is to enjoy the palace, not some vegetation. Occurring excessively (sic!) In a city park.
We wonder to what extent and if it is possible to modify the assumptions of the project at all after the tender has been settled and the works in the park have started.
We asked the Mayor Krzysztof Pasnik about it. The case is complicated. Modifying the project may involve the risk of losing funds for the Green LOF. The question is whether it is possible to leave the island in the pond at all and what are the possible costs associated with it. We know the Mayor is considering these issues.
Our question did not come out of nowhere. Already during consultations in 2017, ordered by Mayor Janusz Bodziacki, opinions on this subject were divided. Proposals were made for the development of the island or its removal.
Today, when the vision of machines that cross the island is getting closer, the topic appeared on the Facebook page of the # kochamlubartów group. The administrator of the fanpage, Patryk Kuś, published a survey, pointing out that the topic of the park has been strongly discussed in recent days. He wondered how many people in the group are in favor of removing, and how many are for leaving the island in the pond in the Lubartów park?
The majority of those surveyed are outspoken supporters of leaving the island behind. In fact, only two people supported the liquidation of the island.
150 people selected the option: I am in favor of leaving but tidying up the island.
31 people are just in favor of leaving the island.
12 people opted to leave the island as an enclave for birds.
It didn't matter to 6 people.
Why do we ask the Mayor about possible plans to modify? Because during the consultation phase of the project in 2017, residents submitted comments, some of which were taken into account.
Suggestions made by residents during a meeting at the City Hall:
- pumping water out of the pond to better clean the bottom;
- placing information boards on the trees and shrubs in the park;
- placing tables for board games in the recreation and relaxation area;
- developing the island or removing it;
- placing nesting boxes for birds.
Several residents took part in the consultations by correspondence:
- three residents postulated to solve the problem of polluting the park by birds (e.g. liquidation of nests),
- one resident suggested moving the pitch and setting the stage opposite to the planned one (setting sun),
- comments related to the building at Farna Street - the stage should not be built up on the sides, no facilities for artists and no attention to the aesthetics of the facility.

The concept reads: trees felling on the island and trees growing along the shoreline of the pond on the main axis.
And so, with a free step, we come to the CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF RENEWING THE HISTORICAL PARK IN LUBARTÓW, prepared in October 2017.
In which we read: "Removing the island together with shaping the elevation of the pond bottom".
Thus, sometime between July and October 2017, the suggestion of a resident within the meaning of "or removing it" was taken into account.
Conclusion? Why put out fires when they can be prevented? Consultation - yes. And then we check to see if anything we want has been included.
Well, unless we are arsonists, we throw a match and look at what and who "fires" from her.
