Lubartów, February 2020

In times of drought, the cash register is dry.

There will be no rainwater tanks.

Surcharges  to water and sewage? Not!

Rainwater tanks? Not!

Consultation on flower meadows? Not!

Ecological Lubartów, ecological thinking,… enchanted horse.

In July last year, the mayor said there was no money in the city budget for rainwater containers. He stated that collecting rainwater for irrigation is not only an ecological solution, but also a rational one, reducing water costs and relieving the water supply network, but suggested that it could be an idea for funds from the civic budget

As our readers know, the ideas of politicians for money from BO are unacceptable to us.

There is no point in mentioning the monthly resolution of dietary increases.

In any case, we repeated the suggestion on January 2, this time in the form of a petition to buy and hand over rainwater tanks free of charge to residents in the 2020/2021 season. The hydrological situation in Poland is difficult. Many people would benefit from this water saving option, but simply cannot afford it. After adopting the resolution on the increase in water and sewage, the City Council decided not to increase the subsidies for residents and left them at the level adopted by the previous authorities.

And just like last year - they tell us that this time there is no money for it in the 2020 budget.

"The city makes efforts to obtain external funds for all initiatives that may improve the quality of life of the residents, including activities related to environmental protection."

It is good to know how efficient the Office is, so we asked what funds Lubartów was applying for during this term of office and what funds it will receive (ł). In which column of the table these efforts are made to find rainwater tanks, it is not visible. It seems that for a year it was not possible to submit any application on this matter.

The electric bus was part of the Deputy Mayor Jakub Wróblewski's election campaign and we see some consequence in it.

At least the revival of the topic during the presidential campaign 😉

From the local backyard, we would like to remind you that ecology was included in the election programs of at least three election committees.

So that our representatives do not have to use money from the civic budget or explain that they are making efforts and cannot be seen, we inform the City Hall of Lubartów that the Stop Drought Program has started!

There is also a need for a change in public awareness of the approach to water. It is not necessary to use the highest quality drinking water for everything. The garden can be watered with rainwater. This solution is good for your wallet and good for the environment. In the Stop drought! Educational campaign, we also draw attention to the problem of food waste. Throwing away foodstuffs is wasting hundreds of liters of water used to make them. For example, a loaf of bread that lands in the basket can be up to 400 liters of wasted water.

Therefore, water must be managed in a sustainable manner - both in the household, commune and the whole scale  country.

Stop the drought! implemented by Polish Waters and the Retention Development Program announced by MGMiŻŚ have a comprehensive approach to water management. Both projects complement each other.

Once Upon a Time (2004)  we paid for the document in which, inter alia, about rainwater tanks. We have no idea why such treaties are made if they are not implemented. It has the title - ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION PROGRAM OF THE CITY OF LUBARTÓW COMMUNE .
