Where did Berek Joselewicz die? We know that it is physically near Kock.
As a non-governmental organization, we participated in social consultations ordered by the Mayor of Lubartów, Krzysztof Pasnik.
We were the only ones to submit our proposals. We also conducted our consultations in the form of a survey. We asked our readers what they thought about the proposed names.
One option was to choose the names proposed by the City Hall, i.e. Sanguszki and ul. Józefa Lulka, the second - sent by us, i.e. Targowy Square and Berka Joselewicza Street, which so far functions in the urban space.
Currently 52 people have responded and thank you very much for all the votes!
More than a half share our opinion, that is, they are in favor of calling the square the Targowy Square and the name of the street unchanged, i.e. Berka Joselewicza.
While the need to name the square is not surprising, the change of the street patron is surprising.
The City Hall expressed the sentence (you read?): “According to the documentation held by the City Hall of Lubartów, ul. Berka Joselewicz does not exist, and the name was used as customary ”.
We do not know in what form the City Hall expressed its opinion.
So far, we have not received a reply to our proposal from the City Hall.
Indeed, we did not find the resolution naming Berka Joselewicza Street on the website of the Public Information Bulletin.
What did we find?
1. We found an announcement about a tender for the development of construction and working designs for the reconstruction of streets in the city center of Lubartów (announcement number: 48350 - 2009; date posted: 03/03/2009), in which the street is located - you will not guess! - Joselewicz !.
2. Register of the numbers of communal roads located in the Lubelskie Voivodeship, kept by the Voivodeship Roads Authority, where there is a street under the number 103418 L - you will not guess! - Joselewicz!
3. In the Spatial Information System of the City Hall of Lubartów, in the list of streets, there is a street - you won't guess! - Joselewicz!
4. Decision No. 09 / us / 2009 on the environmental conditions of the consent for the implementation of the project after considering the application of the Head of the Economic Development Department of the City of Lubartów - Ms Zofia Gorzel of June 23, 2009 on the issue of the decision on environmental conditions for the consent for the project implementation, in which street is located - you won't guess! - Joselewicz!
5. Keep looking.
It reminds us of the situation from 10 years ago and the square without a name, and the name of Józef Piłsudski was used as a customary one. It is, of course, the square "with the snowman", where we proved to the officials that the "snowman" was Józef Piłsudski, despite the fact that the office used the name of the square after the snowman in its correspondence with us.

The councilors plan to name the square in the city center and the adjacent street. While our objection is not raised by the necessity or the need to name the square, we know from the review of available sources that the street already has its name. We are against changing its name, new names are being created in Lubartów and there is room for new names there.
And when it comes to the market square, it should be called Plac Targowy. With Berek Joselewicz in the neighborhood.
They appeared on one of the city's portals comments, that Lubartów City Hall he counts us so much that he asks us to send us only our comments?
Consultation for MOL?
If it turns out that this is the case, we will feel very sad. If none of the non-governmental organizations - apart from us - sends their comments, it may mean that the activity of the organization is related only to the handling of subsidies / grants / programs. It would be a shame.
What activities does the provision in our statutes refer to?
local NGOs talking about activating the civil society? If the invitation to consultations in the current phase is addressed to social activists, we hope that we will get acquainted with numerous opinions in the consultation report.
